symptoms_of_herpes.jpgHerpes simplex is a viral disease. It is a part of the list of communicable diseases and is transmittable by direct contact to the affected area. There are two types of herpes simplex virus. They are herpes simplex virus 1 and herpes simplex virus 2. Herpes simplex-1 (HSV1) causes oral herpes. It is usually known as cold sores, which infects the face and mouth of the afflicted person. It is the most common herpes infection to date both in males and females. Genital herpes, in the meantime, is acquired from herpes simplex virus-2. It is considered a sexually transmitted disease and is more commonly known by the term herpes. Currently, there is no known cure for this ailment. However, there are treatments to lessen the spread of the virus towards the other parts of the skin and body.

If you’ve already initiated or have been in prolonged contact with either of the infected area (also known as the oral cavity for the cold sores and the genitalia for genital herpes), you can count two to twenty days before your first episode of symptoms occur. Although in some cases, it lasts for longer.

The most common symptom of having genital herpes is red and sensitive skin that develops sores or blisters. These abrasions often show up in and around the genital area and at times, even inside the vagina for females. Other warning signs that you may wish to look for are swollen lymph glands in the groin, headaches and phantom pains, muscle aches, fever and flu-like symptoms, and lower back pain. Other possible symptoms for females are vaginal discharge and a burning or painful sensation when urinating.
